The back story
The Lab was launched in 2017, and perfected in 2018.
Founded in 2017 by Wesley Diphoko, the Lab’s top interns (45% of the student intake) were employed by AYO. The baton was handed to Zizipho Dyubeni in 2018 its focus was broadended to include 5 key areas of “Digital”; Development, SEO, Social, Paid Media, Brand and User Experience. 55% were recruited into AYO Digital in 2018.
The Programme’s blended learning style is designed to nurture a culture of entrepreneurship and covers all aspects of Digital. Students are inspired by industry experts, complete prescribed online coursework and work on self-managed tasks. They get to learn the business, working with the AYO Digital team on on real-word projects.
The intention is to recruit programme graduates into the AYO Digital team.
Results for this campaign
The 2019 intake is in full swing. We're working to improve the programme for year three.
In 2017, 45% of the student intake was employed by the company. One year on, and all 5 individuals are still with the company; 4 of them working as part of the AYO Digital team.
55% of the 2018 intake has been retained by the company.
