Programme

Keynote presentations will be followed by thought-provoking discussions that will involve the audience and stimulate networking. This conference is all about sharing ideas and inspiring change! It will be a unique experience because it will offer surprise, debate, drama, engagement, memories, and excitement!

All workshops and the conference itself will take place at the Park Inn hotel.


The Conference will take place on Thursday, September 30th and Friday, October 1st. On Wednesday, September 29th, there will be 3 pre-conference seminars.

Research seminar: Low cost – High value research

The INMA Research committee has carefully sought out the best programme for their bi-annual Research Seminar.
In times of crisis, news media companies often question the research they are doing. The research department is often the first causalty of any cost-cutting measures undertaken. During this seminar we'll be looking at:

  • Presentation of the best cases how you can conduct research at low cost
  • Presentation of the results from a 2010 survey how research is being done and sold within the newspaper companies. With cases how it is organised at specific companies
  • Advertising pricing is key on the internet, we’ll present new findings from research done in the USA.

Sport Seminar

The sports section is one of the best read of many newspapers. When important sports events are organised in the newspapers region, sports becomes even more important: both readers and advertisers can boost revenue. Therefore we look into the best cases from newspaper companies on how to utilize sports events to increase readership and increase revenue from extra supplements and products.

Aftenposten won the INMA sports competition at the european conference in Vienna. An overview of how Aftenposten used the then EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS to boost circulation and revenue.

Opening reception of the INMA/OPA European Conference hosted by the City of Krakow
For all seminar and conference participants.
The Opening Reception to the Outlook 2011 Conference is hosted by the city of Krakow and held in the Medieval City Hall, in the centre of Krakow. This Palace of the Wielopolski family was built in XVI-century and since 1864 has served as a seat for the Krakow city authorities. Participants will be welcomed by Mr Jacek Majchrowski, mayor of the City of Krakow.

Legislation and regulation will definitively have an impact on how the newsmedia business functions in the future. Competition laws and advertising regulation together with laws on privacy all have an impact on the business.

Gala Dinner
At the INMA/OPA European Conference the organisers have opted to hold the "gala dinner" on Thursday night instead of Friday night to give every one a chance to join; including those who fly back home early on Friday evening after the conference!
This year the Gala Dinner will be held at the magnificant salt mines of Wieliczka. Have you ever had dinner 125m below ground? Join us for this unique experience!

Partners' Tours

Why not bring along your partner to Krakow. We've organised "Partners Tours" for both Thursday and Friday.

Thursday September 30th, 2010
Walking tour in the Unesco World Heritage Centre of Krakow

The tour starts at 9.30 in the lobby of the Park Inn Hotel where the guide will be met
and includes a tour of Wawel Castle and Wawel Cathedral. From the hill the walk brings you to the Royal Road and the Main Market Square. The Stary Market, THE local market place will be visited and we end with lunch at the Szara Restaurant (13:00h)

Friday October 1st, 2010
After meeting again in the hotel lobby we go by taxis to the Jewish Kazimierz through the Catholic Kazimierz. Included is a visit to the Remuh Synagogue with the famous cementery. Small galeries with Jewish craftsmen will bring some shopping time and the Klezmer Chois restaurant for lunch will be the end of this tour.
